Bacolod City Police Seize PHP1.156 Million in Shabu and Firearms in Silay City Operation"
In Silay City, Negros Occidental, police operatives conducted a buy-bust operation resulting in the confiscation of PHP1.156 million worth of shabu and two firearms from three individuals on Wednesday. Elmer Abela Jr., a 42-year-old fisherman from Barangay Mambulac, and his two minor companions, both 16-year-old boys, were arrested.
During the operation, Abela sold a sachet of shabu for PHP6,000 to an undercover policeman at his residence in Sitio Dacutan Dacu around 10 a.m. Lt.Col. Mark Darroca, the city police chief, noted that the two minors were employed by Abela, a known drug peddler in the area. The minor suspects were subsequently endorsed to the Silay City Youth Center.
The police recovered 20 plastic sachets of shabu weighing 170 grams, with a total value of PHP1.156 million, from Abela's possession. Additionally, they seized a handmade shotgun, a caliber .38 revolver, an improvised tooter, a plastic bottle containing ammonium nitrate fuel oil, and other non-drug items.
All confiscated items, along with the firearms, were handed over to the Negros Occidental Provincial Forensic Unit-Western Visayas for examination, as per the endorsement by the Silay City Police Station. (PNA)
