Naga City Secures PHP1 Billion Funding for 2024 Infrastructure Projects"

Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion revealed on Wednesday that the city has secured a PHP1-billion fund for various infrastructure projects in 2024. In an interview, Mayor Legacion expressed that the city can now execute its envisioned facilities without tapping into local resources, as funds can be accessed from different national government offices and agencies.

The successful acquisition of funds from various national government entities is expected to propel infrastructure development in the city. The allocated amounts for specific projects include PHP190 million from Senator Ronald dela Rosa's office for Plaza Quezon, PHP30 million from Senator Sherwin Gatchalian for structures at Paseo de San Francisco, PHP39 million for a farm-to-market road in Barangay Cararayan, PHP13 million for a similar road in Barangay Panicuason, and PHP700 million for various infrastructure projects from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Additionally, PHP15 million from Senator Juan Edgardo Angara's office is designated for the Bagumbayan Sur-Queborac Road, PHP100 million from Senator Joel Villanueva for the proposed Naga City Convention Center, and PHP10 million from Senator Lito Lapid for a farm-to-market road in Barangay Carolina.

Notably, the city recently received a PHP110-million check from the Department of Health (DOH) through the Ako Bicol (AKB) party list, earmarked for medical assistance for indigent patients (MAIP). Another PHP100 million from the national government, facilitated by AKB, is allocated for the rehabilitation of the Jesse M. Robredo Coliseum. Senator Christopher Lawrence Go has committed PHP20 million to finalize the necessary equipment for the city's Dialysis Center.

In addition to infrastructure initiatives, the city government is considering the implementation of salary increases for job orders and contractual personnel later this year. (With a report from Connie Calipay/PNA)
