CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The reward for information leading to the identification of those responsible for last year's assassination attempt on Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal Sr. has been increased to PHP6 million, according to police reports on Thursday.
The Misamis Occidental Provincial Police Office, in a statement, emphasized the confidentiality measures in place for individuals providing information about the culprits behind the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) targeting the governor's convoy on October 15, 2023.
A PHP1 million reward is allocated for individuals sharing crucial information, while PHP5 million is set aside for law enforcement personnel successfully apprehending the culprits.
During the incident, Oaminal's convoy was hit by an IED explosion along the highway in the municipality of Clarin, resulting in no casualties.
Following the attack, Governor Oaminal implemented heightened peace and security measures in the province, pledging ongoing support to the police and military.
In a statement, Oaminal urged for a peaceful 2024, emphasizing the need to avoid violence as it hinders developmental progress and deters potential investors from the province.
His call for peace aligns with the commitment to enhance good governance and steer developmental initiatives in the province. (PNA)
