CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Misamis Oriental Province to Collaborate with Indonesia for Advanced Agricultural Technology Implementation
In a statement released on Thursday, Provincial Board Member Rey Buhisan announced that Misamis Oriental would forge a partnership with the Indonesian government to integrate advanced agricultural technology.
A team of Indonesian agriculturists is scheduled to visit the province in the first quarter for an on-site inspection of identified demonstration farms. The pilot areas include farms in Gingoog and El Salvador cities, as well as Magsaysay, Balingasag, Claveria, Alubijid, Gitagum, and Lugait municipalities.
Buhisan, also the Chair of the Committee on Agriculture at the provincial board, stated, "At least 25 hectares have been identified in Balingasag for an inclusive growth development strategy, where the farm produce will be exclusively distributed in the 23 towns and two cities of the province."
In the previous year, the provincial government initiated a partnership with Indonesia as part of Governor Peter Unabia's plan to enhance the agriculture sector and ensure food security for constituents. The provincial government entered into an agreement with the First Community Cooperative for a rice processing plant, aligning with new technology based on Indonesia's agricultural practices. (PNA)
