LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Infrastructure, Food Security, and Renewable Energy Propel Pangasinan's Agenda for 2023 and Beyond
Pangasinan, in 2023, focused on strategic development in infrastructure, food security, and renewable energy, laying the groundwork for sustained growth. Governor Ramon Guico III highlighted key projects, such as the PHP34-billion Pangasinan Link Expressway with San Miguel Holdings Corporation, expected to revolutionize transportation and boost economic activities. The PHP800-million Bolinao Airport is another venture underway, aiming to enhance connectivity.
To further encourage infrastructure investments, the province plans to introduce a Joint Venture for Innovative Start-Up Ordinance, facilitating private sector participation. The corporate farming program aims to improve food production, with initiatives for rice, corn, and high-value crops production. The province also distributed seeds, supported farm mechanization, and provided skills training for agri-preneurs.
In terms of food security, the Pangasinan Salt Center has started harvesting salt, aiming for a substantial volume in 2024. Additionally, the province targets over 100 million bangus fry and 48 million bangus larvae annually through a World Bank-assisted breeding and hatchery project.
Medical-related programs received a boost with a PHP287-million subsidy for indigent patients. The province aims to produce 1.5 gigawatts of solar power capacity by 2025, with approvals granted for several solar power projects.
These initiatives underscore Pangasinan's commitment to comprehensive development, sustainability, and innovation in the coming years.
