CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The labor sector in Northern Mindanao is set to implement a phased increase in the daily minimum wage by PHP33, starting from January 11.
The adjustment will be carried out in two stages, with an initial rise of PHP23 effective January 11, followed by an additional PHP10 on July 1.
Director Erwin Aquino of the Department of Labor and Employment Region 10 announced the implementation of Wage Order No. RX-22 for Northern Mindanao, following its publication in a local newspaper on December 26, 2023, during a media briefing on Friday.
Aquino emphasized that the wage hike would benefit 144,133 minimum-wage earners in Northern Mindanao, including 54,851 domestic workers or “kasambahay” in the region.
Across the region, approximately 267,305 full-time workers earn above the minimum wage. (PNA)
