Over 100 Organizations Express Intent to Join Party-List Race in 2025 Midterm Elections, Says Comelec

A total of 104 organizations have submitted their expressions of intent to participate in the party-list competition for the upcoming May 2025 midterm elections, according to a statement from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday. The list includes Sectoral Parties, Sectoral Organizations, Political Parties, and Coalition of Political Parties that filed Manifestation of Intent (MIP) for the Party-List System of Representation Elections.

Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco emphasized that the provided list is preliminary and subject to scrutiny by the electoral body. He mentioned, "The final list is subject to the rulings of the Commission and for updating by the Clerk of the Commission. This is only a compilation of MIP filings until December 29, 2023, as required by law for groups aspiring to participate in the party-list polls."

Comelec chairperson George Garcia highlighted the requirement for organizations to file only one MIP, stating that multiple filings indicate internal conflicts within the party or organization. Garcia explained, "When there is more than one MIP, it means there is an intra-party dispute that will be resolved by Comelec."

Among the organizations that submitted their MIP are KASAMA - Kasama Regional Political Party, SULONG DIGNIDAD - Sulong Dignidad Regional Political Party, ACT-CIS - Anti-Crime and Terrorism - Community Involvement and Support Inc., TULUNGAN TAYO - Tulungan Tayo, and DIWA PARTYLIST - Democratic Independent Workers Association Partylist. The Comelec clarified that the submission of party-list nominees' names could occur at a later date.
