ILOILO CITY – Businesses in Iloilo City are urged to make use of the convenient one-stop shop services provided by the local government, now available in various malls for permit renewals.
Mayor Jerry Treñas emphasized on Monday, "All off-site payment centers have been converted into business one-stop shops. You can renew your permits in the same place. You can also secure your cedula or residence certificates from the site."
The off-site centers are situated at SM City Iloilo, Festive Walk at Megaworld, Atrium, and Marymart Mall.
Velma Jane Lao, head of the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office, stated that clearances from various offices such as the Bureau of Fire Protection, Tourism, City Health Office, boarding houses, and others are readily available at the center. Lao assured that permits can be obtained within a few hours.
She also mentioned that the center accepts payments for real property and other taxes year-round. However, during the renewal season, all offices necessary for permit renewal are fully operational at the one-stop shop.
Despite the availability of off-site payment centers, onsite payments at the city hall are still accepted.
To accommodate clients, all centers are open on Saturdays and Sundays.
While the city government anticipates the renewal of the 18,927 permits issued last year, historical trends indicate that only around 70 to 80 percent of businesses renew their permits on time.
As of Sunday, 895 business permits had been renewed, and 2,099 Tax Orders of Payment (TOP) were released.
Mayor Treñas emphasized that there would be no extension for permit renewals, citing the continued operation of off-site payment centers even during a power outage last week. (PNA)
