Christmas Day Clashes: Nine NPA Rebels Neutralized in Bukidnon Province

On Christmas Monday, a series of clashes in the hinterlands of Malaybalay City in Bukidnon province resulted in the death of nine communist New People’s Army (NPA) rebels. The initial report from the Army 4th Infantry Division (4ID) indicated that the skirmishes occurred in the villages of Can-ayan, Kibalabag, Kulaman, and Mapulo.

Government forces, comprised of three Army Battalions under the 403rd Infantry Brigade, including the 8th and 88th Infantry Battalions and the 1st Special Forces Battalion, conducted a series of offensives starting early in the morning. The clashes led to the recovery of eight high-powered firearms, assorted ammunition, and personal belongings from the encounter sites.

Three of the nine rebels killed were females, engaging in battle against the armed forces. The 4ID emphasized that they maintained military offensives against the communist terrorist groups on Christmas Day. Pursuit operations were still ongoing in the affected villages as of the time of posting. (PNA)
