Davao City -
Vice President and Education Secretary, Sara Z. Duterte, announced on Monday that consultations are currently underway regarding proposals to shift the school opening from August to June.
Duterte mentioned that the Department of Education (DepEd) has successfully conducted the initial consultation on returning to the June start. Further consultations with DepEd regional offices and stakeholders are planned, as revealed by Duterte during the fourth founding anniversary of the City College of Davao, where she served as the guest of honor.
The purpose of these consultations is to gather feedback from the field, allowing the development of a comprehensive plan for the school calendar. Duterte emphasized her commitment to not interfere with the consultation process, preferring to adhere to the suggestions of experts.
She stated, "My role is not to express opinions, emotions, or judgments. Preserving unbiased decision-making is essential in our work. Our decisions will be based on expert suggestions, research, surveys, and feedback from students, employees, and stakeholders." (PNA)
