In Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, 53 sea turtle hatchlings discovered at Saka-Saka Beach Resort in Barangay Nauhang were released on Monday with the assistance of Bantay Dagat personnel from the city. Edsel Toledo, the coordinator of the Bantay Dagat Task Force, shared that the hatchlings were found by resort staff and guests around 2 a.m. The personnel, along with the City Agriculture Office staff, documented and released the hatchlings. Toledo highlighted the significance of sea turtles in the ecosystem, emphasizing that their presence indicates a healthy and clean environment. This event follows a similar release of 45 sea turtle hatchlings at Poblacion Beach in February of the previous year and the release of two batches of hatchlings in January, contributing to the preservation of these creatures in their natural habitat.
