Sacred Traditions Unfold: Annual Traslacion Marks Spiritual Journey in Cebu City

CEBU CITYOn Friday, thousands of devoted individuals in Mandaue City raised their hands and sang "Bato Balani sa Gugma" (Magnet of Love) as they welcomed the sacred images ofSr. Sto. Ni ño and Our Lady of Guadalupe during the traditional Traslacion.

The annual Traslacion serves as a prelude to the upcoming fluvial parade and solemn foot procession scheduled for Saturday.

Mayor Michael Rama led the residents of Cebu City in transferring the sacred images to Mandaue Mayor Jonas Cortes at the boundary between the two localities. Together with other devotees, they brought the images to St. Joseph Parish for a Holy Mass.

On Friday night, Mayor Junard Chan of Lapu-Lapu City guided the island villagers in receiving the images at the first Mactan-Mandaue Bridge.

Mayor Chan informed reporters that the Sto. Niño image would later be taken to the Galleon at the Muelle Osmeña for the fluvial parade.

Commander Mark Larsen Mariano, chief of the Philippine Coast Guard - Cebu, mentioned that over 200 sea-faring vessels, including more than a hundred motor bancas, are set to participate in the fluvial procession. (PNA)
