CEBU CITY – The Central Visayas branch of the Philippine National Police (PNP) successfully intercepted approximately PHP3.1 million worth of suspected shabu and apprehended 112 individuals involved in illegal drug activities during a targeted three-day anti-criminality campaign leading up to the New Year.
Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, the regional director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-7, announced that the anti-drug operation took place from December 28 to 30, as detailed in a press statement. He expressed confidence that the recent substantial drug seizures have contributed to a notable reduction in both the demand and supply of drugs in the region.
Additionally, law enforcement efforts led to the arrest of 164 individuals engaged in illegal gambling, with authorities confiscating PHP17,627 in bet money. Alberin also reported the apprehension of 12 individuals carrying unregistered firearms, while a total of 127 unlicensed firearms were seized during operations conducted in the days leading up to the New Year.
