Confirmation is
a popular Christian practice that strengthens or
deepens a person’s spiritual relationship with God. It sorts of completes
the process of initiation of a person into the Christian community, which
started during baptism. With confirmation, the person becomes a full member of
the church.
For Christian organizations that practice
infant baptism, confirmation is done to “seal Christianity” that was created in
baptism. It is called as such because it “confirms” and made strong the faith
given in baptism.
In some churches, the sacrament of baptism
is not considered complete until
a person received confirmation.
Whatever is your religion and the bases
of your Christian faith, you will go through the confirmation ritual at some point
in your life. For most Catholic churches, the ritual is done when the person is
about 14 years old. However, it can be done at an age when the person is
already able to understand the difficulties and challenges of practicing his or
her Christian faith. And it is usually held on Pentecost Sunday when Christians
celebrate the descent of the
Holy Spirit upon the apostles. It is administered after the person received the
first Holy
Communion.
Since confirmation is also an important
occasion, some people celebrate it by throwing a party after the ceremony with
their families and close friends. Others even follow a particular theme in
decorating the venue, based on their hobbies or what they love to do. Some boys
like to use football-inspired decorations complete with uniforms and football
gears. However, this can be a little expensive but some people don’t mind
spending big as long as they enjoy the party.
We know that decorations, as long as these
are beautifully done, make the party alive and fun. Guests would surely notice
first the decors placed on the dining tables. After all, they sit and eat in
and around the table.
Confirmation parties are sure to be
remembered when the venue is beautifully decorated with flowers in different
colors. Some prefer to put balloons all over the venue and with photo booth
where guests can capture their emotions and expressions. But of course, great
food should never be absent. And when the party is over, give your guests some
souvenir items that they will surely cherish forever. You can give away rosaries placed
in memorable keepsake boxes. You can also give stylish cross bracelets and other
commemorative things.
Though giveaways are not really that important, they can help make your
guests remember that once, they became a part of your very special day.
